Selenio



El selenio es un elemento esencial en la nutrición humana. Ha atraído un creciente interés científico en los últimos años por su potencial para prevenir el cáncer. El selenio esta presenta en múltiples formas en la naturaleza, tres de los cuales son especialmente importantes en la prevención de los cánceres humanos (sodium selenite, L-selenomethionine y selenium-methyl L-selenocysteine). Cada una de estas tres formas de selenio ha producido resultados interesantes. Los estudios en laboratorio revelan lo siguiente: cada forma de selenio tiene un conjunto único de mecanismos, y cada una afecta a los diferentes tipos de cáncer. El cuerpo humano maneja cada forma de selenio en una forma diferente, y cada forma contribuye únicamente a la prevención del cáncer que emerge. Sólo mediante la combinación de las tres formas de selenio puede estar seguro de una optimización en la reducción del riesgo de cáncer.
